Hi, I’m Sydney—founder of The Checkered Canvas, motorsport enthusiast, lab and horse mom, and proud transplant from the cornfields of Indiana to the rolling hills of Kentucky.

Needlepoint wasn’t always on my radar. I discovered it in June 2024, during my long infusion appointments, simply looking for something to pass the time while being stuck in a chair. I picked up a canvas I loved, threaded my first needle, and got completely hooked. What started as a quiet distraction quickly turned into a full-blown passion project.

With a deep love for motorsports (Formula 1 and IndyCar fans, you’re in good company), I started dreaming up designs I couldn’t find anywhere else. The result? Canvases that feel just as at home in a pit lane as they do on your stitch stand.
